What is TEDxAberystwyth?
TEDxAberystwyth is an independently organized non-profit TED-like event. It is run by volunteers and aims to provide a platform for local community to share “ideas worth spreading”.
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. See more in the About section.
Where and when does it take place?
TEDxAberystwyth 2022 takes place in on the 3rd December 2022 at 10.00am in Aberystwyth Arts Centre. Check out our programme later in November for the estimate times of talks.
How can I get tickets?
Tickets for TEDxAberystwyth 2024 will go on sale in 2024. More information on the tickets can be found on our Tickets page.
Who are the speakers?
Aberystwyth and its surrounding area has a rich pool of excellent resident speakers, combined with those who have past connections with the area. All of our hand-picked performers have novel and stimulating ideas to share from the arts, science, media, sport, environment, society and beyond. Our speakers will be announced in the run up to the event on the Speakers and Programme pages.
What can I expect on the day?
The first speaker will start just after 10.00am, following the official opening of the event. The event schedule will be published on our Programme page. We expect to finish the day about 3pm. We encourage mingling, conversations and sharing of ideas. Therefore, coffee and lunch breaks are included and the Arts Centre bar will be opened after the event.
What have the previous talks been about?
You can view our previous talks on the past events page.
Is this a child-friendly event?
Our attendees vary in age and we’d love to have your family join us. Although the talks are meant for a general audience, we do realize that not every topic may not be found age appropriate for young people, depending on your discretion. While that discretion is up to you, no talks are uncomfortably graphic. If anything, we hope all of our talks provide an opportunity for great conversation and dialogue among your family!
Can I apply to be a speaker?
We do take applications from local speakers (UK only) with novel ideas worth sharing, however we are not looking for speakers at the moment. However, please note that the selection criteria is strict and is dictated by our audience’s taste, as well as TEDx Content Guidelines. If you would like to find out more about speaking at our event, please contact us.
Can I volunteer for TEDxAberystwyth?
We welcome volunteers, as there is plenty to do before and on the day of the event! We also welcome partnerships. If you are interested, please contact us.
I still have some questions. How can I contact you?
You are more than welcome to send us an email. Alternatively, please use our Contact page for more ways to contact us.
