Imogen Davies

Imogen Davies is a 24-year-old Welsh writer and academic from Aberystwyth. She is currently undertaking a Masters in Modernist Literature at the University of Edinburgh, and also works as editor for Parthian Books.

With a bilingual upbringing in Welsh and English, she went on to study French, Spanish, and Catalan at Durham University. After graduating she independently published her first poetry collection, DISTANCES, inspired by the experiences, friendships and relationships of her year abroad.

Named as one of the sixty New Welsh Poets by Poetry Wales, Imogen’s work has appeared online and in print in various literary magazines such as the Stratford Literary Festival’s Young Poets Collection 2022, New Welsh Review, and Nation Cymru among others. As well as working in partnership with the Books Council of Wales, Wales Arts International and the Arts Council of Wales she has been interviewed about her work on BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Radio Wales.

What does it mean to grow up bilingual in a minority language? How does it impact the ways in which we learn to express our emotions, from feelings of anger to joy? More importantly, what does it mean to love in a minority language?

In her talk, Imogen will illustrate the importance of how and why we are able to express love in minority languages, proving that it is not dependent on linguistic fluency but on a recognition of one’s past and future.

We are so excited to hear this talk and think it will resonate with many people in the audience. Have you got your tickets yet?
