TEDxAberystwyth 2018 speaker

Andy is a lecturer in Remote Sensing in GIS in the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences at Aberystwyth University. His research has centered on the use of remote sensing for mapping biophysical parameters including applications related to land cover dynamics, hydrology and malaria vector ecology, using a range of systems from optical and radar satellites to manned aircraft and drones. He has focused the application of his skills to public health challenges with previous research projects including the use of hydraulic flood modelling for mapping malaria habitats in Western Zambia and the use of drones for providing spatial intelligence for malaria elimination in Zanzibar.

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxAberystwyth, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxAberystwyth event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
